“The most disrespected person in America is the black woman. The most unprotected person in America is the black woman. The most neglected person in America is the Black woman.” -Malcolm X
We’re kicking off Season 2 with this brown and black girl magic! In this episode we’re talking all about how being a woman with black or brown skin is work! While we’ve certainly made some progress, we still have so far to go. Women of color on average receive the lowest wages, hold the worst jobs, and are more likely to be unemployed. We deal with racism, classism, AND sexism but we’re not letting it get us down. The world will see this magic!
What Weβre Sipping On This Episode:
Seven Deadly Zins – Zinfandel – We had to start Season 2 off right so you know we picked a red! This Zinfandel has “heaps of jammy berry fruit…aromas of leather, oak and spice notes…and flavors of dark fruits, currants, and toffee…“. It is definitely a way to start the season off right! Sasha and Shara agree that this is a great tasting Zinfandel. Not too sweet or dry and at 15% ABV, we’re starting the season off right!
About the Episode:
With Kamala Harris being the newly minted candidate for Vice President on the Democratic ticket, we can already see how Black and Brown women have to do so much more to live up to society’s standards. The levels that Black and Brown women have to achieve are far beyond what others have to in order to be successful and are consistently being told how Black or Brown they are based on an every expanding list of variables.
